DIY NYC was an independent group entry to an ideas competition for an outdoor music venue at East River State park in NYC. The project was completed over a two month period during Summer 2010. The project brief called for using new ideas and materials.
Our central concept was making a network of interesting pieces that interconnect and can be moved by the denizens of the park. These pieces can be assembled in an infinite number of ways and used to facilitate a wide range of functions and experiences.
The brainstorming was shared between me and my two partners, Ronny Eckels and Danielle Davis, and the concept was a collaborative process. Of the final work I did all the texturing, lighting and rendering and I wrote the accompanying text in a short story format about a week in the life of the park. Ronny handled the final models and Danielle made the 2d diagrams and final board layouts.
